Between Roseau and Portsmouth, the coastal road passes some decent swimming-and-snorkeling spots. At Canefield, there s a little beach where a river flows into Pringles Bay, south of the airport. You ll spot Rodney s Rock from the road a couple of miles farther north, just before the town of Tarou. The beach is not good here, but the close-in reef is known as a nursery for juvenile marine life. Divers are often in the area, but you can snorkel out and get a good view of the coral and fish from above.
